Rhyming Poems

As you saw in my last post, I attempted a rhyming poem! It was really crappy, I had no idea what I was writing. I just picked a random picture and wrote about it.

But now! I'm going to try! See, there's this guy in my class who's like, AMAZING at rhyming poems. He wrote this one about a robber and I was like, in shock. The entire day, all I could think about was how perfect it was, how he managed to make the poem rhyme and make sense at the same time. Seriously, how is that possible?!?!?!?

I think it's because I try to find words that rhyme to fit the poem instead of a poem to fit the words. Does that make sense? Anyways, I just read this funny book that was inspirational and I think I'm on this high that one gets after reading something good.

For a rhyming poem, it wasn't the greatest, but as a poem in general it is amazing! Also, I really do understand how you find the fact that someone can right something and have it be so perfectly rhymed and yet still have meaning, I completely get that, and it's what I strived for, for a really long time, because I wanted to create something as amazing as Poe or Whitman, but then I realized poetry doesn't have to rhyme and I've settled for non-rhyming poetry because I find I right them better, and I find the essence of my poem is captured better m, rather than I trying to create the perfect rhyming poem while capturing the same idea.
